We are looking to visit Hoy in September. We have a 6.5m long motorhome,2.8 metres wide.My first question is would the ferry be able to accommodate us and my second is do you have any areas for us to camp and pay or wild camp and pay a donation, which is what we do when visiting Harris. Via PayPal.

Hi Chris,
The best thing to do with regards to ferry travel is contact Orkney Ferries on 01856 811397.
We suggest that you check out the following links when considering visiting. There are a variety of options available to you.

We will be visiting the Orkneys for 4 days; starting .13th May At present we are keen to visit Hoy. One option is leaving our car at Houness and take the ferry to Lyness and back but that would only be to visit the Scapa Flow museum. Alternatively we could take the roro ferry from Stromness to Linksness and visit other sites including Scapa, Any thoughts please?
Thanks
Is there be a campsite on Hoy? The Hackwick Bothy looks amazing but I don’t think we would manage the hike with our tent and camping paraphernalia. From what I can tell the two council run hostels don’t allow camping and the Hillside Tiny campsite is closed. Any pointers much appreciated.
